As a way of sustaining the strides of ‘Luntha ndi Chuma’ Digital Skills Development and Innovation Training Initiative, the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) under the Digital Malawi Project (DIGMAP) has donated ICT equipment to Ntha Foundation, one of the technology (tech) hubs under the initiative.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lilongwe, PPPC Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kabambe emphasized that the donation will play a crucial role in empowering the tech hub to sustainably continue its mission of fostering digital empowerment among the youth and women, thereby advancing Malawi’s digital landscape.
Kabambe highlighted the transformative milestones of the Luntha ndi Chuma initiative, stressing that it has empowered the youth and women with essential digital and entrepreneurship skills that will enable them to excel in the evolving digital age.
“The Luntha ndi Chuma initiative is aimed at empowering youth and women with digital and entrepreneurship skills. The idea is if they have these skills then they should be able to either get a job or be self-employed,” said Kabambe.
He lauded the Ntha Foundation for their proficient utilization of a US$250,000 grant from the DIGMAP which has helped in training over 670 youths in the country.
On her part, Ntha Foundation founder Nthanda Manduwi expressed her gratitude to the government through the PPPC for the donation, emphasizing its potential to enhance its operational capabilities and further its impact within the community.
Manduwi stressed the importance of government and other donors financing young entrepreneurs to start businesses and establish organizations.
She then urged all Malawians to be diligent when entrusted with public funds to attain transparency and accountability.
Some of the donated ICT equipment includes computers, printers, routers, projectors, and power backup systems.
